The Benefit of Molybdenum and Tungsten Crucibles

Aug 8,2018
For those working within the field of both chemical and compound processing, the need for high-quality, well-engineered products is a must. Utilizing poorly-machined products, or products constructed with improper elements and compounds, will lead towards a breakdown in quality. Similarly, it can lead towards a breakdown in safety, making for a work environment where the workers are put at risk. For any business that is in need of high-quality engineering products, particularly those to be used in the processing and manufacturing of crystalline products, they should consider utilizing the material properties of elements like tungsten and molybdenum.
Tungsten has the highest melting point (6,170 degrees F) of all metals in their pure form
Tungsten also has the lowest vapor pressure and highest tensile strength of all metals in the pure form
Tungsten has a higher density than steel, at a rate of more than two times as much
Molybdenum
These elements are most useful for the processing of crystal growth, as a vacuum furnace for such a process must be able to withstand temperatures up to 2,192 degrees F. Tungsten and molybdenum manufacturers are well-aware of this, producing tungsten crucibles and molybdenum crucibles for use in crystal growth laboratories.
Manufactured in a variety of shapes, designs, and sizes, these crucibles can be produced for whatever the business and engineering necessity. While some pure crucibles can be found, tungsten crucibles are often prepared with the addition of less-than-1% of molybdenum, utilizing the beneficial properties of both items so to create a hardened, long-lasting crucible.
